My participation (what I did during the process)

In this assignment we are supposed to create a design work based on Multimedia theme. This work must be a work of art produced by creativity. In this process we spend time over finding information about “Multimedia” topic and what is considered as multimedia. Integrated presentation and combination of animation, text, video, sound and etc. through different kinds of media are considered as multimedia. These media forms can be as wide as broadcast media, advertisement media, and works of art, printed media, digital media and primitive media.
We gathered information and ideas together and based on our mind maps we have chosen works of art and in specific we decided to work on “music”.

 In this case I did study on music and created  mind maps on music topic.

Music is considered as an art form presented by use of sound. Each culture has its own understanding and style of music. There are different kinds of music genres and sub-genres with different compositions.

To many people music is one of the most important elements in their life. Some people participate in music creation which needs its specific knowledge and some listen and enjoy. Most of people rely on music because it affects their emotions. Music can help in pain therapy also which means it connects the brain and sensation to each other. So, emotions are the way in which human will be affected by music. So we decided to work on emotions, feelings and impacts of music on them and how each music type generates different type of feelings in human.

Music is like what feelings sounds like

In this case, I provided an idea based on which music is like magic spells.

Each Spell is different and has different effects. Music is like magic spells; it will stay in minds and will be remembered later. Musicians are like magicians. They create different magic. People enjoy magic and even sometimes sad, fantasy and misery.

Each spell is unique in magicians just like different peace of music.

Therefore, we decided to show the feeling that music gives to people with different genres. In this case, we decided to work on feelings or emotions such as love (romance), relaxation, nostalgia, happiness and scare.

Below are the sketches of these feelings. For each feeling or emotion I provided a mind map and tried to find a simile or metaphor to show that feeling.

Relaxation is like surfing the sky in a ballon. As you go further you enjoy more. It is dreamy and fun as well. You feel weightless and just feeling the environment.

So finally we decided to work on romance, relaxation, and nostalgia and scary.

In this case I provided some storyboards to show the scenes.

Explanation: each time from the magic hat different kind of spells will come out and it has different effects. These spells are considered to be music notes (different genres and sounds). It is by hearing that we understand the music and then it will directly effect our emotions. For example "love songs" will create romantic feelings. In this case I tried to show the similes I provided before. This means for romance or love feeling I applied the simile of a growing flower. In relaxation I also applied the simile of surfing the sky in a ballon and for nostalgia it shows how suddenly by hearing a peace of music a person might remember his/her past just like a lightening in the sky that brights up the scene for few seconds. Since 90% of us in the group are Iranians, that is why we have decided on Iranian traditional music for nostalgia.

Multimedia and Music Visualization in Human Life

Starting from the biggest in the last and the deepest to the shallowest, every form, pattern and course of action in nature are actually vibrations, which recur at regular time intervals. The interactions between particles and the energies that manipulate those interactions can be controlled. This is true for music and sound, a natural and dynamical coordination which is believed as trials of sonic patterns. With the proper translator, for instance a laser animation device, the sound patterns can be observed concurrently as visual patterns. By applying the right frequency, period, and amplitude, and arranging them into proper forms, patterns, and expressions, human feelings can be stimulated with dynamical art.

Humans learn to correlate certain characteristics of a sound when certain materials are moved by any means, and the vibrations caused. We expect unlike sounds from the blow of a whistle and the tick of a clock, from a breaking glass and raining. Humans have the ability to correlate sound the visual effects. From childhood, our brain is trained to emphasize on the correlation of these two vibrations. Thus, it is inevitable, that utilization of multimedia and music visualization can significantly influence the human mind. It changes the feel of the music, and gives another dimension to the sound. This new age of 3D modeling and 3D animations opens a wide range of fields to be explored and benefited from.

We anticipate sound to accompany almost about all the movements and activities that we witness. Supported by our understanding of that activity or movement, we have very precise expectations of the character of that sound. We expect the sound patterns to correspond and match up with the patterns of the vibrating object. 

Music undoubtedly has a major influence on human life. It has mood changing powers, and can affect the way we think. Thus, using animations, sounds, and music visualizations, strong messages can be transferred and communicated to humans. There are positive and negative effects, but after all, it all depends on the humans whether they use it for good, or evil.

Music

According to dictionary music is defined as” the art or science of combining vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion.” The reason why we have chosen this popular media is that music influence our life considerably; all of us enjoy listening to music as well as admiring our favorite singer, songs and lyrics. Since music has a power to manipulate our moods and emotion, many people consider it vital and the vessel of life that has ability to enhance and fill emotional needs.
Other than that, interestingly music power is not limited only on human’s moods and satisfaction, according to scholars and experiments; it has significant result on planets and animal’s life. For instance those planets that have been played music, growth in brighter color, faster, lively and taller in length, compare to same planets which haven’t played music.Another fascinating point about music that we would like to stress on is: psychologically we can read people personality based on their favorite music, for example; people who like to listen to heavy metal music lose their temper more than people who listen to relaxing and traditional music.


Bob Robert explained that phenomena in this way “The combination of musical rhythms seems to induce our fluctuations of blood pressure, sometimes being imperceptible, but usually influencing our feelings. Therefore slow music calms us, while having a fast rhythm makes us tense, but when music is based too much on harmony, then it may tire our brain.”That’s why the melody and tune in movies can are momentous to add more emotional reaction in peak scenes. Even though the scene is not inflectional enough, the music and its rhythm will come to play to act as a last bullet in order to achieve audience’s heart.In addition, referring to researches, those people who have embedded music in their daily life style are more likely to manipulate their creativity to accomplish their goals and daily tasks.Top of all, besides music’s obvious capability to fulfill emotional and physical needs, it can also cover material desires, one of the main profitable industry that can benefit producer and user at the same time is music. Every year a lot of people all over the world make money in this industry and public also appreciate them to create the art to feed our spirit which we have named it music.


However the impact of music is obvious, yet we have decided to do a survey among youth ( 20- 30 years old) to clarify the impact of music in life style and thoughts in depth and detail. To reach that goal the questionnaire consists of 10 questions was distributed online.In brief we can conclude the responds as below;In terms of music genre, most of the participants prefer listen to pop music, on the other hand opera is the lowest rate, so pop music still is popular among youth. The duration that has been spent listening to music is in average of 5 hours daily.A very exciting point which we would like to share is the positive correlation between favorable type of music and thoughts among participants. Those who listen to relaxation music prefer to live in countryside, in oppose rock fans prefer living in the city where is crowded and noisy.To sum up our survey’s result, we can interpret, mostly all participants listen to music every day and they define it as the best friend which cannot live without. So in our opinion, authorities, such as politicians, leaders, opinion holders and influential people can manipulate music to reach the highest potential of audiences in the best way.

Word Association

In this exercise we had to identify kittens specifications. Among them I selected "long teeth".

Then I explained how to create scary image or object. I will use long teeth because it gives the idea of biting. Anything that can eat others is scary for people. Also what can eat others will hunt for it!!!

Today's class exercise was to combine to animals that we think they cannot survive in their new shape. So I decided to show a giraffe and a fish that never can survive if we combine them. the giraffe needs to breathe in open air and fish needs to stay underwater. 

Mortal & Pestle

Mortal & pestle have been used since years ago. Mortal is a bowl shape object and pestle is a club shaped one.

Now, i'm going to mention 3 ideas on how mortal and pestle can be used for different use. Just as a test over how far my imagination can go. topics chosen for this exercise are :  " noise", "diet" and "hair".   

"Noise"

As I have tried to show in my sketch, mortal & pestle can be used in courts. the judge can mentioned end of the sessions by creating noise with them instead of using hammer.

" Diet"

It can be an idea to use two mortals in one scale and several pestles for different weight units. So in order to buy some vegetables, the using units can be weights of pestles!

"Hair"

Mortal & pestle also can be used as roller setters for having curly hair! It is possible to fill the mortal by hot water and put several pestles inside. When pestles get warm, they can be used to curl hair.

Week 3. Invention and Innovation (based on given link)

  Creativity would change cultures. The invention of mobility usage in devices was highly welcomed in all societies, giving the opportunity to communicate more often.  The innovations over the idea of mobility leaded to production of many new devices such as PC , laptop, mobile phones, and tablets and so on. The cultural lifestyle of many people has changed.

  Having personal computers at home, universities and companies for education, fun and work were all to help lifestyles. People of societies accepted the idea and are willing to have a better one each day. For example laptops were for people to take them in different places, but the innovation over the idea of laptops or mobile phones resulted to tablets –a new idea. New ideas grab the attention of the society and would remain till the new innovation. It depends on how long it takes that the innovation over the idea of tablets results to a new device. The innovation over previous idea is fast in this era.
